No other method of therapy has allowed me to hold joints, muscles, and fasciae together over several days better than Kinesio Tape.
Since 2004, I have kinesio taped shoulders, knees, wrists, ankles, fingers, and toes. Hip, rotator cuff, inner shoulder blade, ribs, and plantar fascia have all been taped.
It can be described as an ACE bandage times 10. Or a muscle hugger. It actually, in fact, does several things depending on how it is applied. It may loosen a muscle, tighten a muscle, support a joint, provide nerve feedback from the skin, relax fascia, and allow lymph flow.
Lance Armstrong described Kinesio Tape in his book Every Second Counts as "a special hot-pink tape that came from Japan that seemed to have magical powers." Armstrong added: "Sometimes we'd be so wrapped up in hot-pink tape that we'd look like dolls, a bunch of broken dolls But the tape worked, so we kept it, because it could fix things."
The recent 2008 Summer Olympics revealed how heavily Kinesio Taping is catching on in the professional sports arena:
